With only one year under their belt, members of the Sandy Creek High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter are heading into a second year of competition with awards that show they mean business.

The chapter has 11 students (one earned two placements) qualifying for the 2015 FBLA State Leadership Conference in March after taking top honors in the regional competition.

Those students are Ellie Klarl and Jacob Reynolds (Hospitality Management); Chidera Obinali and Megan D’Errico (Digital Design and Promotion); Deviny Williams and Michael Jenkins (Digital Video Production); Kate Weinhardt (Public Speaking I); Tiara Murphy (Sales Presentation); Krystian Rojas, Tara McAfee, and Kyle Craven (3-D Animation); and Chidera Obinali in her second placement of Business Communication.

Altogether, 16 Sandy Creek students earned placements at the regional competition. Additional students who brought home awards include MJ LaGrande, Devin Hamill, and Joey Noffsinger (Website Design); Paul Buchanan (Public Speaking II); Ellie Klarl (Impromptu Speaking); and Phedra Buchanan (Business Math).

Melanie Duncan, business education teacher, is the school’s FBLA advisor.
