FCHS to induct new Hall of Fame class

The Fayette County High School Distinguished Alumni and Sports Hall of Fame’s 2018 induction ceremonies will be Jan. 26 and 27.

The inductees will be introduced Friday night prior to the FCHS vs. Starr’s Mill boys basketball game at approximately 8 p.m. in the FCHS gymnasium. The recognition banquet is Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Fay- ette County High School Cafeteria, 1 Tiger Trail. Tickets for the banquet can be purchased for $20 at the High School in the Principal’s office or at Fayette Sporting Goods off Glynn Street North (Highway 85), 371 Fayette Place just south of Michaels.

The 2018 class is composed of three distinguished alumni and three student athletes. The distinguished alumni group includes Mrs. Ada Hewell, Brigadier General (Retired) Curt Rauhut and Stephen Lotti (deceased).

Hewell, Class of 1945, is a lifelong Fayetteville resident and was employed by the Fayette County Board of Education for over 30 years. She was instrumental in growth and changes in the Board and has been very involved in the community.

Rauhut, Class of 1980, received numerous medals in his Army career spanning 1986 to 2014. He is currently EVP/COO for Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.

Lotti, Class of 1995, was a Peace Corps volunteer and was involved with numerous humanitarian efforts during his lifetime.

The student athletes include Anita Davis Ross, William “Nana” Clark and Efram “Pig” Clark.

Ross, Class of 1990, starred in soft- ball and basketball at FCHS winning numerous honors. She continued her successful athletic career competing in basketball at Jacksonville State University.

Clark, Class of 1978, was a baseball standout who also played football and basketball. Nana continued his career winning awards while on baseball scholarship at Livingston University. He also had a stint in the Cincinnati Reds system.

Clark, Class of 1978, was a three-sport letterman including three years in football. He played football at Livingston University and then
transferred to play at Jacksonville State.

All interested in attending the events are welcome to purchase tickets for the game at the door, $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets for the banquet are $20 and can be purchased in advance at the school, at Fayette Sporting Goods or at the door.
