A Fayetteville man has been charged with electronic pornography and child exploitation after an investigation by the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Fayetteville investigators.

Austin M. Boone, 19, of Pine Circle, was charged with exhibiting sexually-explicit materials to minors and two counts of electronic pornography and child exploitation, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Mike Whitlow said the department was contacted by Homeland Security about an Internet communication between Boone and two juveniles in Texas. Local authorities there subsequently contacted DHS.

DHS agents met with Fayetteville investigators, confirming that Boone had been identified and presented evidence that Boone had attempted to have the two juveniles send him sexually-explicit photographs, said Whitlow.

Warrants were then obtained for Boone’s arrest on May 12, Whitlow said.
