Have you ever seen a rose floating in a brandy snifter? How about rose arrangements done as a traditional, abstract, or oriental design? Would you like to buy a rose bouquet for $1 per stem? How about stepping into a room filled with 500 roses and taking a deep breath of the incomparable perfume?

You will have that rare opportunity Saturday and Sunday, May 20-21, from 1-4 p.m. at the free 32nd Annual SMRS Rose Show at Fayetteville Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 870 Redwine Rd. Local rose growers are invited to enter their roses for ribbons and prizes. Members of the society will advise newcomers on entering their roses by calling the number below. Entries must be made at the show site from 5:30-9:30 a.m. on May 14 for judging.

The show is free to the public from 1-4 p.m. on both days to view, smell, and photograph the exhibited roses. Hundreds of roses and rose arrangements will be displayed. Rose bouquets will be sold and there will be an Information Table where questions will be answered by ARS Consulting Rosarians. Items to be raffled include Pike’s and Autumn Hill Nursery gift certificates, restaurant gift certificates, gardening items, miniature and large rose bushes, and more.

South Metro Rose Society is affiliated with the American Rose Society located in Shreveport, LA. SMRS meets on the fourth Monday of Jan-Apr and Aug-Oct at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Bank at 440 N. Jeff Davis Dr. in Fayetteville. All rose enthusiasts, especially novices, are invited to visit the meetings at no charge. For more information call 770-631-3885.
