Miriam Walker Tingle, 90, of Fayetteville passed away April 8, 2017. She was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and grew up in Evergreen, Ala. with her parents, Adie Goggins Walker and Callie Price Walker.

She graduated from Huntington College in Montgomery, Ala. with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters in Education from Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn.

Miriam taught literature at College Park and M.D. Collins High Schools, where she chaired the English departments and wrote literature textbooks used statewide. She was known for her immense kindness and generosity that she showed to all she came in contact with. She also enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, with whom she visited 37 countries.

Retiring in Fayetteville, Miriam was preceded by her husband, Ben F. Tingle III and parents Adie Walker and Callie Price Walker.

She is survived by one son, Ben F. Tingle, IV; her two beloved grandchildren, Marie and Benjamin F. Tingle, V; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Tingle, and an adored niece, Jerry Wells. She is thankful for the caring services of Madge Kudratt and Olive Rambaldi.

The funeral service was at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Dr. David Campbell officiating.  The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at 11 a.m. (CDT) on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Magnolia Cemetery, Evergreen, Ala.
