Mrs. Eleanor L. Ryan, 89, of Peachtree City, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017.

Eleanor was born in New York City in 1927 to the late Walter and Sadie Lockhart. She grew up in the city she loved all her life. She was an avid ice skater, competing regionally in ice dancing in the New York area. She also loved playing the piano.

In 1953 Eleanor became a stewardess for Eastern Airlines and was based in Miami where she met her future husband. After a couple years back in New York City, the family settled in Stoughton, Mass. after a job transfer, to raise their children. There, Eleanor was an active member in the Fieldbrook Young Women’s Club and volunteered at the local high school. Upon transferring to the Atlanta area due to her husband’s job with Delta Air Lines, Eleanor became active in the Mother Seton Circle at St. Phillip Benizi Catholic Church. She also took up golf (a sport she loved) and was a member of a couple women’s golfing groups. An avid Atlanta Braves fan, she never missed a game, cheering “her Braves” on through thick and thin. She loved to craft and her home was graced by many cross stitch, needlepoint or embroidery items. A loving wife and mother, she was quick witted, always ready to crack a joke or enjoy a laugh. She loved her Irish heritage and she would do anything for chocolate!

Eleanor is survived by her husband Robert of almost 62 years, and her daughter Theresa Ryan, and son Robert Ryan (Belinda).

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at her parish of 24 years, Holy Trinity Catholic Church 101 Walt Banks Rd. Peachtree City, Ga. Interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens and a reception will be held in Loreto Hall at Holy Trinity immediately following. There will be no visitation.
