A Whitewater High DECA Club member has qualified to compete in the Virtual Business Challenge finals at the DECA International Career and Development Conference in April in Anaheim, Calif.

Glenn MacDonald competed in the retailing track of the challenge, taking first place in Georgia and sixth place in the nation.

The DECA Virtual Business Challenge is an official DECA competitive event where participants use visual simulation software to manage a business, testing their management skills against other students across the United States. Participants manage specific marketing and business concepts such as pricing, staffing, merchandising, market research, and promotion. Competitors are ranked based on their store’s cumulative profit after running the simulation for one virtual year.

MacDonald and other challengers at the international conference will play the live simulation in front of an audience. It will be a double elimination tournament where the participants will compete for a grand prize of $1,000 plus $6,000 to cover their airfare and hotel expenses.
