John Severin Christiansen, age 67 of Newnan, Ga. passed away Sunday December 18, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born June 16, 1949 to the late Harold and Henrietta Christiansen originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. John grew up in Valley Stream, Long Island, attended Roger Williams College and received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He was in the highway contracting business and was employed by Sheets Construction, who treated him as their own family.
As a motorcycle enthusiast, he owned several Harley Davidsons, and never missed Bike Week in Daytona Beach every year. John was a black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate, and taught his children self defense. He enjoyed tennis and would play every Saturday morning. He also held a GA real estate license along with his wife at Southern Classic Realtors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon-Lee Christiansen of Newnan; children, Jodie Sha-Lee Benson (Mathew) of Lakeland Fla. and Luke William Christiansen (Jaime Marsau) of Newnan; a granddaughter, Brooklyn Christelle Christiansen; a grandson, Jordan Lee McIntyre; and a sister, Patricia Ann McCall of Simpsonville, S.C.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 5 p.m., officiated by Gary Anderson at McKoon Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family from 4 to 5 p.m. before the service.
