BOYS BASKETBALL

FAYETTE COUNTY snapped a three-game losing streak with two straight wins to improve to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in Region 5-AAAA play. The Tigers fell 64-57 to Alexander before winning 76-57 over Sandy Creek and 72-61 over Carrollton.

LANDMARK is now 16-3 overall and 7-1 in Region 5-A after defeating W.D. Mohammed 82-73 and winning 82-45 over Elite Scholars.

McINTOSH defeated Northgate 74-56 and downed East Coweta 58-44 to move to 15-6 overall and 9-2 in Region 4-AAAAA.

OUR LADY OF MERCY beat Strong Rock 74-35 and lost 49-43 to Paideia, making the Bobcats’ record 5-15 and 2-4 in Region 5-A.

SANDY CREEK split its games last week, winning 78-52 over Columbus and losing 76-57 to Fayette County. The Patriots are 15-4 overall and 6-2 in Region 5-AAAA.

STARR’S MILL lost 68-53 to Creekside and 56-40 to Whitewater, bringing its record to 6-14 overall and 4-7 in Region 4-AAAAA.

WHITEWATER is now 13-6 overall and 8-2 in Region 4-AAAAA after wins over Woodland (57-50) and Starr’s Mill (56-40).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

FAYETTE COUNTY is now 13-6 overall and 7-1 in Region 5-AAAA after winning three straight region games last week: 40-27 over Alexander, 48-29 over Sandy Creek and 41-32 over Carrollton.

LANDMARK won both of its games last week, 60-32 against W.D. Mohammed and 70-46 against Elite Scholars. The Lady War Eagles are 8-12 overall and 2-5 in Region 5-A.

McINTOSH beat Northgate 51-33 and defeated East Coweta 51-35 to improve to 11-9 overall and 5-5 in Region 4-AAAAA.

OUR LADY OF MERCY is 10-10 overall and 3-3 in Region 5-A after a 51-22 over Strong Rock, a 60-26 loss to Greenforest and a 38-25 loss to Paideia.

SANDY CREEK fell 55-51 to Columbus and 48-29 to Fayette County, making the Lady Patriots’ record 7-11 overall and 3-4 in Region 5-AAAA.

STARR’S MILL is now 15-5 overall and 9-2 in Region 4-AAAAA after consecutive wins over Creekside (54-36) and Whitewater (59-50).

WHITEWATER lost three straight games last week to Woodland (50-30), Starr’s Mill (59-50) and Bishop McGuinness (54-31). The Lady Wildcats are 11-10 overall and 6-4 in Region 4-AAAAA.

WRESTLING

WHITEWATER swept five opponents in two dual meets last week. At Woodward the Wildcats defeated the host team 44-29 and also won over Druid Hills (60-21) and Dutchtown (58-15). In a home meet Friday Whitewater downed Woodland (70-12) and Fayette County (41-25).

LANDMARK defeated Pace and Yeshiva in a Jan. 21 meet. Last Friday night the War Eagles defeated Sandy Creek 48-21 and Stockbridge 61-12

SWIMMING

McINTOSH defeated Whitewater in a meet last week, winning the combined team scores 365-186. The boys’ score was 181-93, while the girls’ score was 184-93.

WHITEWATER swept its meet against five schools from Clayton County last week. The Wildcats edged Jonesboro 266-261 on the boys’ side, while the Lady Wildcats put up 350 points to second-place Jonesboro’s 230. Other participating schools were Morrow, Drew, Mt. Zion and Elite Scholars Academy.

STARR’S MILL took first place in the eighth annual Tribal Challenge hosted by East Coweta last weekend, with the top boys’ and girls’ team scores. McIntosh was second overall in the 16-team event, with Sandy Creek finishing tenth while Our Lady of Mercy and Landmark tied for 13th.
