The Peachtree City Police Department is hosting a training course for the public regarding identity fraud on Monday, April 9, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., at the Police Department (350 Hwy 74 S). The course will provide an overview of preventative measures and safeguards relating to tax and identity fraud. It is designed to enhance the victim’s ability to recognize a potential crime before it occurs. It will also provide insight into what items may be considered valuable to the investigation. Planning Commission Meets Tonight – Southside Church Landscape Plan
The Peachtree City Planning Commission will meet on Monday, April 9, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall. The public is welcome. The Commission will consider the landscape plan for the Southside Church parking lot expansion (Phase 1), Robinson Road.

Best of the Road 2012
Once again, Peachtree City is in the running for the Rand McNally/USA Today “Best of the Road” competition. Last year, Peachtree City ranked in the top 6 “Most Patriotic” cities for our 4th of July celebration, earning us a slot on the road rally that is part of the category. We were up against places like Williamsburg, VA, and the ultimate winner, U.S. Army Post Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Since it is somewhat difficult for Peachtree City to compete with the cradle of the U.S. and the home of our military (unless it is the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Patriot Day, Veterans Day, etc.), we’re entered in both the “Most Beautiful” and “Friendliest” categories this year. You can vote and comment at www.bestoftheroad.com (your registration from last year still works – they will ask for your email, but you can opt out of any contact).

Annual Stormwater Bills Due May 1
Peachtree City’s annual residential Stormwater Utility bills have been mailed to all homeowners and should arrive this week. The bill is based on the amount of impervious surface per property and is due from all property owners. Payment for the annual residential bills is due by May 1 by mail or via the drop box outside the main entrance to City Hall. If you are a renter and receive the bill for your address, please forward it to the property owner. Report stormwater or drainage problems at www.ptcgovernment.org/develop/engineering/stormwater/drainage/ (also available from the main web page via the “Report a Problem” button).

Public Vehicle & Equipment Auction – Final Days
Peachtree City is accepting bids on a variety of vehicles and equipment (trucks, cars, trailers, pumps, sprayer, generator, mower, Bobcat skid loader, and more). The auctions will continue through approximately April 13. Bid at www.govdeals.com (Search by QAL # 818).

Disc Golf Course CLOSED for Renovations April 22 – May 27, Glenloch Horseshoe Pit Construction begins April 14
Did you know Peachtree City had a nine-hole Disc Golf Course? This popular but hidden park, also known as the Village Green, is located between Hwy 54 and the First Presbyterian and First Baptist Churches on Willowbend Road. Local Boy Scout Alan Bowers will be refurbishing the tee boxes and will remove, sandblast, powder coat, and reinstall the baskets. Thanks, Alan, for undertaking this great project for the community!

Boy Scout Matt Prellberg will be installing a new horseshoe pit at Glenloch Recreation Complex. The two-week project should not impact any of the other facilities at Glenloch, but park users are asked to avoid the construction area until the project is complete.

Thank you to both Alan and Matt for these wonderful projects to improve our public recreation facilities!
