Sheriff’s investigators arrest 3

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators have made three arrests this week in connection with three unrelated crimes.

Jacob Christopher Cotten, 19, of Longview, Tex. was arrested Sept. 7 in connection with a July 29 burglary of a locked storage building on Harp Road in south Fayette County. Cotten is accused of stealing two four-wheel ATVs, both of which were recovered and returned to the victim.

Cotten is charged with one count of burglary and two counts of theft by taking.

In a separate case, investigators arrested Dallas Garrett Hampton, 21, of Fayetteville for stealing a wallet from Andy’s Nursery in north Fayette County Aug. 8. Hampton is accused of using the victim’s financial identity information to make several fraudulent purchases including a Sony PlayStation 3 video game system, officials said. Investigators are working to recover additional items that were purchased.

Hampton is charged with theft by taking, financial transaction card theft and three counts of financial transaction card fraud.

Another separate case led to the arrest of Leonard Joyner, 49, of Atlanta for forgery in the first degree. Joyner is accused of cashing a forged check April 20 at Community Capital Bank in Fayetteville. The forged check belonged to a Fayette County business.
