Etta Carreker Crews, 94, of Pine Mountain died peacefully Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Florence Hand Nursing Home in LaGrange, GA.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, 180 North Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville . Rev. Glenn Stringham and Rev. Allen Bridgman will officiate. Interment will follow at 4:30 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 PM.
Mrs. Crews was born on January 30, 1916 in Barnesville, GA. She was the daughter of the late Clara Lyon Carreker and George James Carreker. She lived in Thomaston , GA and Columbus, GA before moving to Fayetteville. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Wise Sunday School class, Women’s Missionary Union and the Senior Choir. Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clarence M. Crews, Sr., an infant twin brother, a sister, Cleo Sanders and a brother, James Carreker.
She leaves to cherish her memories a son Clarence M. Crews, Jr. and his wife Jane of Spartanburg, SC and a daughter Sylvia C. Graddy and her husband Danny of Pine Mountain; Four grandchildren Stacey Graddy of Peachtree City, Dan Graddy and his wife Lori of Fayetteville, Janine Lanier and her husband Louis of Charlotte, NC, and David Crews of Boiling Springs, SC; Great-grandchildren Daniel, Sydney, SeAnna, Andrew and Ansley Graddy, and Will Lanier; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
