The Senoia Area Historical Society is sponsoring a bike riding tour of Senoia on Saturday, June 5, starting at 9:30 a.m. The tour, for riders of all abilities, is a fund raiser for the society. Proceeds will be used to preserve and display artifacts for the museum. This is a great ride for people interested in the history of the area, interesting architecture, tales of residents past and present, or who just want some fun on a Saturday morning.

Cyclists will tour charming Senoia where they will view the varied architecture, hear historical tidbits of over 25 homes in the National Historical District, century-old churches, and more, and learn where numerous films were shot, including “Fried Green Tomatoes,” “The War,” “Andersonville,” “Broken Bridges,” and “The Mighty Temptations.”

The tour will last approximately 2 to2-1/2 hours. Recommended donations for the tour are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 13. The tour ends at the Senoia Area Historical Society Museum, where door prizes will be awarded, light refreshments served, and riders can enjoy taking a walk through time.

Afterward, participants can enjoy Senoia’s restaurants and shops and even choose a self-supporting 25-, 40-, or 50-mile Senoia Southsider route. Helmets are required. Due to frequent stops, walkable cycling shoes are recommended for the tour. The rain date for the tour is Saturday, June 12.

Directions to the tour. From the north, take Georgia Highway 85 to Senoia, turn right on Seavy Street, and park at the Senoia Children’s Park on the left. Or take GA Highway 16 to Senoia, go north on GA Highway 85, turn left on Seavy Street, and park as indicated.
