Open Mic Night at ‘The Fred’

Local entertainers go head to head competing for the coveted first place win in Open Mic Night at the Fred Amphitheater. Friday, May 7 come out and cheer for your favorite artist as they face a live audience and panel of judges. Winners take home not only bragging rights but the opportunity to perform as an opening act for one of the concerts in the 2010 BMW of South Atlanta Summer Concert Series at the Fred. The “ticket” for the night is a Fred wrist band that may be purchased for $5 in advance or $10 the night of the show at the box office.

“We are looking forward to a fun night at ‘The Fred’ as we kick off our summer events with Open Mic,” said Nancy Price, Amphitheater Manager. “Part of what makes the night so much fun is the variety of music you get to hear and having the crowd cheer on their favorites.”

A full night of entertainment starts when Open Mic kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by 2009 winner, Remedy. Following Remedy will be 26 bands and individuals playing everything from cover songs to original works, trying to win over the judges and the crowd. Participants will be judged on stage presence, musical ability, voice quality and overall crowd appeal.

Performing as part of Open Mic night will be: Chelsea Chaney & Dane Hildreth, Parker Crutchfield, United Streets of Atlanta, Five Feet Off the Ground, Meriwether Montage, Ellison Road, 4 Play, Revelation, Matthew Fiscus, Mackenzie White & Jake McCroskey, Ella Sivertsen, Andy Stasko, Mid Life Crisis, Phil & Lee, Final Answer, Near Miss, Scarlet Stitch, David Collins, The Dirty Roots Band, Assembly Required Band, Sandra Lou Crumpton, Zaphyra, Jerry Tate, Greg Ferrer Band, to be decided, and Where’s Charlie?.

Judges for the evening will be Brian Simmons, John Verner, and Andy Ryff. Ryff is the lead singer of the 2009 Open Mic winner, Remedy, Simmons from Music Schools International in Peachtree City brings over 15 years experience as a professional musician and music educator to the table and Verner is a master guitarist, instructor and clinician. He is also a sought after educator and performer in this area.

The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater is a 2,500 seat state-of-the art facility owned and operated by the city of Peachtree City.
