Peking opened in Peachtree City in 1986. It was only the second Chinese restaurant in the city at the time. The eatery was a hit among area residents for 16 years until owner Becky She decided to retire from the restaurant biz and go into finance.

In 2006, She realized there was still a desire to own a restaurant and thus, She’s Bistro, which opened in July of 2007.

Located next to Rita’s in Peachtree City, She’s Bistro offers a variety of Asian cuisines, everything from popular Chinese dishes, many of which were on the Peking menu, to sushi, sashimi, Japanese hibachi and Thai.

“The market has changed a lot since we opened Peking,” She commented while discussing the increased competition among all restaurants, not just ones with similar offerings on the menu. “We wanted to try something different.”

She originally wanted to call the restaurant Peking Plus because of all of the additions to the menu, but She’s Bistro won out. The dining area has a modern and streamlined look with views of the sushi bar and hibachi grill from almost any seat in the house. In the years since the doors opened at She’s Bistro, many of the Peking regulars have found their way to the new restaurant, pleased that their favorite items are still on the menu and pleasantly surprised and intrigued by the new items.

“Our specials board changes frequently,” said She, who added she is always willing to recommend something new. “Also, if a customer doesn’t see something on the menu, we can usually add it.”

She is glad to see familiar faces from the Peking days, many of whom were like family. When she was having her last child, her regular customers threw her a baby shower and She closed Peking for a day to give them a customer appreciation. Now, She’s Bistro has a new set of regulars, people who bring their families every Friday or arrive for lunch several times a week. There is enough on the menu to give them something new to try each time they come in.

She finds that the sushi is among the most popular items on the menu, as is the seafood. There are many diners who come specifically each Saturday to see what She has picked up that morning at the fish market. She also tries to use fresh vegetables as much as possible and this gives the meals terrific taste and texture.

She knows that one’s reputation is very important in the restaurant business and She and her staff have an impeccable reputation, one that has created goodwill with good food and good times since 1986. She has a passion for cooking, thanks to her mother, and a passion for restaurants thanks to a successful run with Peking. She encourages everyone to come to She’s Bistro and find something on the menu that appeals to them. Who knows, you might even be the next regular.

She’s Bistro is located at 2775 Georgia Highway 54 West. Phone 770-487-8818.
